25 March 2007 will mark 200 years to the day that a Parliamentary Act was passed to abolish the slave trade in the British colonies. In order to mark this year's Bicentenary, Manchester City Council will be commemorating it and raising awareness of the continuing incidences of slavery in the present day.
Robert Beckford will be participating in September 2007: speaking at Manchester Cathedral on Sept 9, and leading the Sixth form conference on black theology on Sept 10.
